It takes $150 a month to feed a horse.
Because we operate on a small acreage, the horses need to be fed hay all year-round. We need more funds for hay and grain.

Happy Tails Haven Horse Rescue and Sanctuary voluntarily provides sanctuary to unwanted horses of all breeds on 20-acres of natural settings located in Piedmont, South Dakota. Our horses create important bonds living within a community herd as they rehabilitate.
In 2014, Happy Tails Haven became a registered 501(c)(3) charity to provide a permanent home for the elderly and extensive special needs horses. We also have available a select few adoptable horses.

Meet Copper. He is an owner surrender and our newest rescue. He is a very sweet boy but is extremely afraid of horse trailers. We had to sedate him in order to get him to our rescue. So he will need a lot of time and patience trailering. The previous owner said he had a traumatic trailer accident. He could sure use a sponsor until he's adopted.❤🐎
He is broke to ride, but needs miles put on him by an intermediate or experienced rider. Copper is sound and ready for a new home.
Copper is also missing his top row of front teeth. We are unsure what happened to him to cause his missing teeth. We have noticed he does a little bit of wind sucking. He holds his weight just fine with proper nutrition.
If you are interested in meeting copper he is up for adoption with a contract through our rescue. Please contact me or Klara Parks 605-391-3122.
